Bernhard O. Palsson, PhD

Bernhard Palsson is the Galletti Professor of Bioengineering, the Principal Investigator of the Systems Biology Research Group in the Department of Bioengineering, and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego. He is also the CEO of the Novo Nordisk Center for Biosustainability, a leading international research center. He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (top 1% researcher by citations) since 2014. He has co-authored over 590 peer-reviewed research articles, has authored five textbooks (covering systems biology, omics data analysis, tissue engineering, and human cell culture), and sits on the editorial board of several leading peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Palsson holds over 40 U.S. patents and is a serial entrepreneur (including NASDAQ: VCEL, Genomatica, GT Life Sciences). He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the AIMBE, AAAS, and the AAM. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1984.
